We receive some unusual commissions, but this flight of fancy ranks sky high among them. We have recently finished making some Nightingale pipes, only our second attempt at this particular pattern.
Years ago we made a very simple version for Lammermuir Pipe Organs, but this little bird is heading to an organ builder in the United States.
Such stops featured in early Italian organs, but they are rare in modern instruments. They certainly chirp well, as you can hear, above, as Chris Shires tests a pipe before final assembly.
